Potted Herzog Tree Planting Process
Follow these detailed steps to ensure successful tree planting.

Prepare the Area
Choose a location with plenty of space and clear away any weeds, grass, brush, or small trees so the new tree won’t compete as it grows.

Dig the Hole
Use a post-hole digger or power auger to dig a hole slightly wider than the canvas bag and deep enough so the top of the bag will sit level with the ground.

Plant the Tree
Place the tree—bag and all—into the hole. The canvas bag is biodegradable, so leave it on. Make sure the tree stands straight, then backfill and lightly pack the soil.

Water and Maintain
Water thoroughly after planting and keep the surrounding area clear during the first year. Regular watering in the first few weeks helps the tree establish quickly.
